GENEVA, Switzerland — MSC World America, the latest World Class ship in the MSC Cruises fleet, will redefine family cruising with new activities and never-before-seen spaces, including new programs and facilities developed in partnership with the LEGO Group.
The ultramodern new flagship will feature seven distinct districts when it enters service in April 2025, each bringing together a range of tailored experiences, with Family Aventura becoming the go-to destination for kids and family fun around the clock.
As a family-owned company, MSC Cruises is known for its award-winning kid’s offerings, tailored to deliver unforgettable cruise experiences for children of all ages. MSC World Americawill take everything to a new level with the company’s largest and most technologically advanced kids area yet. Spanning more than 10,000 square feet across seven different rooms designed for guests in various age ranges from 0 to 17, families can expect a new range of concepts, taking vacations on board to new heights.

NEW LEGO® PARADE: For the first time in the cruise industry, MSC World America will host a LEGO® parade with LEGO® characters designed to entertain children of all ages. The parade will march through the ship from Family Aventura to the World Promenade once per cruise.
NEW: LEGO® FAMILY ZONE: Family Aventura will include a brand-new area for master builders and bricks enthusiasts called LEGO® Family Zone. Parents and children will be able to play together, and LEGO® fans of all ages can unleash their creativity from morning to evening.
NEW: LEGO® GAME SHOW: MSC World America will offer a LEGO® Family Game Show for the first time in the cruise industry. During each cruise, families will have the opportunity to come together for an exhilarating team challenge in which parents and children compete as true Master Builders on board. The competition will feature timed challenges, colorful bricks and unexpected twists, all culminating in determining the ultimate winner. NEW: BOXES FAMILY GAME SHOW: Families will get the chance to compete in “Boxes”, a new fun-filled family game show where each mystery box will contain a blind challenge to beat in order to win prizes.
NEW: DOREMIX FAMILY DISCO: For dance competition fans, a new version of the Doremix Family Disco will arrive for the first time with new technology and must-see visuals. Parents and children will dance together to hit music and original MSC Cruises songs for children, all vying for the title of best dancers of the night.
NEW: HIGH-TECH EXPERIENCES: Specifically created for teenagers, Star Shooters is an adventure course in the Sportplex with targets for participants to hit and rack up points for a win. Virtual Reality at Luna Park will give guests access to the latest VR technology experiences, transporting them to other worlds from MSC World America.
NEW: LARGEST EVER DOREMILAND: MSC World America will feature the largest, most action-packed Doremiland kids’ area in the MSC Cruises’ fleet, spanning more than 10,000 square feet. Home to seven rooms dedicated to different age groups from 0 to 17 years old, it will also be the most technologically advanced kids area of the fleet with the latest tech consoles on the market, and stunning light and sound effects. NEW: THE HABOUR: At the heart of the Family Aventura district lies The Harbour, a revolutionary new outdoor park where families can come together to engage in activities, indulge in delicious bites and soak up the sun. The Harbour offers an exhilarating high ropes course, a thrilling new state-of-the-art Cliffhanger attraction, a family dwelling area and a playground modelled after the iconic lighthouse at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve in The Bahamas. WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — Merlin Entertainments’ LEGOLAND Florida Resort is pleased to announce the appointment of Franceen Gonzales as its new Park President, effective June 10th. With more than 30 years of experience in amusement parks, water parks, hotels, and family entertainment, Gonzales brings a wealth of expertise to the role. She will oversee all park operations for LEGOLAND Florida Resort, LEGOLAND Water Park, Peppa Pig Theme Park, LEGOLAND Hotel, LEGOLAND Pirate Island Hotel and LEGOLAND Beach Retreat.
Gonzales has garnered extensive industry knowledge from leading U.S. companies in the theme park sector. Previously, she served as Park Director at Six Flags Great Adventure and as Vice President of Risk Management at Great Wolf Resorts. Most recently, she held the position of Chief Experience Officer at WhiteWater West, spearheading customer experience initiatives across five business units and five global offices. Among her notable projects are Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day Island, featuring its inaugural cladded tower, AquaNick Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico, with custom SpongeBob and PAW Patrol themes, two major expansions of the highest-attended water park in Brazil, and various other high-profile projects that have set industry benchmarks in innovation and guest experience.

She has also served on the Board of Directors for IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions) twice, as well as on the board for the WWA (World Waterpark Association). Additionally, she has held the position of Chairman of AIMS International (Amusement Industry Manufacturers and Suppliers).

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas — Coaster enthusiasts across North America will take a ride at 2 p.m. EDT on June 16 on roller coasters at 22 amusement and theme parks to celebrate the anniversary of the opening of the first modern roller coaster. The ride celebrates the engineering, architecture, history and thrills of these marvels that were first introduced on June 16, 1884, with the opening of LaMarcus Thompson’s Switchback Railway at Coney Island. Members of American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE), the world’s largest club of amusement ride enthusiasts, will fill the trains along with park guests to further the importance of preserving and enjoying these treasures.

LaMarcus Thompson’s Switchback Railway at Coney Island, a gravity-powered out-and-back ride that took its inspiration from a mining railway, is considered to be America’s first roller coaster. Thompson’s Switchback Railway stood where the present-day Cyclone still operates.
“Carowinds is excited to participate in the third annual World’s Largest Ride with American Coaster Enthusiasts,” Manny Gonzalez, Carowinds’ vice president and general manager, said. “This simultaneous dispatch highlights our shared passion for roller coasters and allows us to showcase Fury 325. It’s an honor to be part of a global community that celebrates the thrill of amusement parks.”
A total of 305 seats will be filled by enthusiastic riders on 24 different coasters from various roller coaster manufacturers, including Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters, Inc.; The Gravity Group; Great Coasters International, Inc.; Rocky Mountain Construction; and Wisdom Rides, based in the United States, as well as Switzerland’s Bolliger & Mabillard, Germany’s Gerstlauer and Vekoma, based in The Netherlands.
Alex Payne, regional public relations manager at Palace Entertainment, stated, “Adventureland is so excited to be a part of the World’s Largest Coaster Ride again this year. With the return of the reimagined Underground, the World’s only indoor wooden roller coaster, we couldn’t think of a better coaster to have as a part of this event.” ACE members will be able to experience this reimagined attraction during the ACE Preservation Conference August 16-18, 2024, in Iowa and Missouri.

BOTTROP-KIRCHHELLEN — A summer full of action at Movie Park Germany is just about to start! Just in time for the high season, Germany’s largest movie and amusement park is further expanding its entertainment program. Illusionist Christian Farla returns in July with his team for the next season of the magic show series “Sherlock Holmes – A Game of Mystery: Chapter 3” and has some new illusions and a revised storyline about the most famous detective in TV and literary history in store.
Every day during the vacation period, guests can look forward to the big Movie Park Parade, street acts and shows performed by the entertainment crew. The Folco Stunt Team is also setting the scene for summer in Hollywood in Germany with a new jet ski show in the Santa Monica Pier themed area.
Continuation of the magic show “Sherlock Holmes – A Game of Mystery: Chapter 3”
It’s getting magical again at Studio 7 this summer and award-winning illusionist Christian Farla returns in his role as Sherlock Holmes. In the last season, his arch-enemy Professor Moriarty and Miss Irene Adler were sent to prison. But a new villain is already up to no good and wants to help them escape: master criminal Dr. Mortimer, who has just stolen the 16 exclusive silver coins from London’s City Bank. Moriarty instructs him to plan a death trap for Sherlock Holmes to get rid of him once and for all. In the process, Holmes is put to the test with magical puzzles, secrets and dangerous escapes. Once again, all hopes are pinned on Holmes to save London and put the next criminal safely behind bars.
The show for the whole family will be shown twice a day from July 1 to August 25, 2024, and will include a new storyline as well as some new illusions, such as the “Fire Basket” and the “Chainsaw Escape”.
Recently, Christian Farla was named “Grand Prix Dutch Champion of Magic 2023/2024”. At the shows in Movie Park Germany, he will once again be supported by the Show Girls of Magic. New to the show is actor and juggler David Severins as Dr. Mortimer.
Furthermore, Movie Park can already place another cliffhanger: The park is pleased to announce a long-term collaboration with Team Farla. The next surprise is already waiting for all guests in the fall.
Daily show program for the summer vacation period
Movie Park Germany is ramping up its entertainment program once again on all NRW vacation days! Germany’s number one family park presents its big parade “Movie Park Studios on Parade” on a daily basis with matching vehicles and floats in studio and movie design, accompanied by the entertainment crew’s dance performances and the characters from PAW Patrol, SpongeBob SquarePants and clapperboard S.A.M..
The daily entertainment program is complemented by the street act in front of “The Toymaker” store as well as the New York Plaza show “Road to Hollywood”, the western show “Kiki’s Saloon in Silverspoon” and, under good weather conditions, the “Here We Go Again” show at the Santa Monica Pier – letting several shows take place every day and making the entertainment team and its artists even more present.

Jet ski show at the Santa Monica Pier
The Folco Stunt Team’s jet ski show provides the perfect water spectacle in summer. At the heart of the storyline is a jet ski contest in which various riders compete against each other on the water and try to impress the judges with their best stunts while trying to achieve the highest score. The show in the Santa Monica Pier themed area is also planned for the high season and will surprise spectators in front of the pier with a few splishes and splashes as a cool summer refreshment.
