OLD FORGE, N.Y. — Families visiting Old Forge have a new way to play with the addition of the Excavator ride experience at Calypso’s Cove, located next door to Water Safari.
The attraction features three real JCB mini excavators brought to Old Forge from Water Safari’s sister park, Diggerland USA. Two excavators offer guests a traditional digging experience, while the third challenges riders to use the excavator’s arm and hook attachment to pick up shapes and carefully place them in matching openings giving them the opportunity to try their hand at a familiar family game with a real-life construction-themed twist. The hands-on experiences put guests in the operator’s seat giving them the opportunity to dig, scoop and take on challenges using real construction equipment. The one-of-a-kind experience lets guests take part in something they typically only get to view from the sidelines. With this experience, guests are in control and personally get to operate the incredible machines .
“Bringing these excavators from Diggerland USA allows us to offer a unique, hands-on experience for families visiting the resort,” said Shawn Kidd, park president of Water Safari. “We are excited to give our guests a new experience that allows them to operate real construction equipment in a safe, interactive environment.”
Designed for children and families, the excavator attraction combines hands-on play, coordination and problem-solving with the thrill of operating authentic construction equipment.
The Excavator attraction is now open at Calypso’s Cove, conveniently located next to Water Safari in Old Forge. Guests may purchase two-hour unlimited-attraction wristbands for use on any attraction at Calypso’s Cove.
