AromaPrime is launching a new themed scent oil called Pirate Water Ride. It is for theme park fans and theme parks alike, and will be unveiled at the IAAPA Expo Europe in London this September.
Pirate Water Ride is inspired by what could be the most popular theme park smell ever! It is recognisable in pirate themed water rides and indoor log flume scenes, where the air is humid, bringing out ironically appealing, mildew-like notes from the scenery. One might describe the smell as musty-yet-clean, woody, and comparable to damp concrete. Many celebrate the incidental smell for its atmospheric characteristics.
AromaPrime is known for creating immersive smellscapes for theme park rides and experiences. For research, the company’s theme park scent expert Liam R. Findlay studied the smells of popular water rides in Florida and Europe, and he even took water samples from puddles on the boat seats. Although many believe bromine cleaning tablets to cause the distinctive ‘pirate water ride’ smell, Liam determined that water treatment chemicals (which can be barely noticeable when used correctly) had a negligible impact on the smell compared to that of the indoor humidity around the sets.
The new Pirate Water Ride scent oil will be usable in AromaPrime’s diffusion products, such as the Vortex scent machines that are popular with theme parks. Findlay says:
“Many theme park fans already order scents that are used in their favourite attractions, so they can relive memories of fun days out back at home. I have no doubt that fans will love our Pirate Water Ride scent for the same purpose!
“The scent might even come in handy for theme parks that want to give their water rides the beloved ‘damp cavern’ effect that is so distinctive in major water attractions – without needing to let their sets go musty! Who would have thought that this incidental scent would become so popular that it would be recreated for intentional application?”
Pirate Water Ride will be unveiled at the AromaPrime booth at IAAPA Expo Europe, 22nd-24th September. Fans can keep an eye on www.aromaprime.com, as the scent will be soft launched before the unveiling.
