SimEx-Iwerks extends long-term partnership with BBC Earth

BALTIMORE, Md. — SimEx-Iwerks has extended its long-standing licensing partnership with BBC Studios, building on a successful collaboration that brings BBC Earth’s natural history storytelling to life through immersive cinematic experiences at attractions around the world.

As part of the renewed partnership, SimEx-Iwerks has developed two new 4D Experiences® inspired by the BBC’s acclaimed Mammals series: Wild Waters 4D and Wild Lands 4D. The experiences transform remarkable moments from the series into engaging, entertaining shows designed to captivate audiences of all ages in immersive and 4D theaters.

Wild Waters 4D takes audiences into the aquatic world, following mammals that have adapted to life in and around the planet’s oceans and waterways. Wild Lands 4D journeys across terrestrial environments, revealing the behaviors, challenges and remarkable adaptations that allow mammals to thrive in some of the world’s most diverse landscapes.

Both experiences combine BBC Earth’s spectacular natural history storytelling with immersive theater elements designed to bring audiences even closer to the natural world. The new titles will join SimEx-Iwerks’ ever-expanding portfolio of BBC Earth related experiences available to visitor attractions worldwide.

“BBC Earth has been an important creative partner for SimEx-Iwerks, and we are incredibly proud to continue building on that relationship,” said Mike Frueh, Senior Vice President, Global Media & Film. “These stories take audiences across the globe, creating an emotional connection with wildlife and the natural world. That aligns so closely with the missions of many of the attractions we work with.”

“We’re delighted to extend our long-standing partnership with SimEx-Iwerks, bringing BBC Earth’s extraordinary wildlife storytelling to new audiences around the world. These new experiences inspired by Mammals offer an exciting way to bring audiences closer to the natural world in the visitor attraction space,” added Natasha Spence, Events Director, BBC Studios.

The extension builds upon more than 20 years of partnership between SimEx-Iwerks and BBC Earth. Together, the companies have brought natural history content to audiences at leading attractions globally, combining world-class filmmaking with immersive technology and experiential storytelling. Wild Waters 4D and Wild Lands 4D will be available to license starting in March 2027 worldwide.
