PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. — When the heat of summer turns to cooler autumn days and nights, the Smokies’ top feudin’ families have come up with an all-new way to fuss and fight all fall with a new harvest-themed show at the Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Feud. Starting Sept. 11 and continuing through Nov. 5, the Hatfields and the McCoys will be hollering throughout the harvest season and creating a downright fall fiasco full of fun with new seasonal shenanigans.
The fall fuss all starts before the main show even begins, with a talking scarecrow so real that guests will be looking skyward to make sure he’s not joined by a tin man or a mean ole witch. This patchwork character is serenaded by his own scarecrow band whose talents are accented by new fall outfits and surrounded by jack-o-lanterns and wispy giant spiderwebs that make you know you’ve left summer far behind!
The Hatfields and McCoys always find something new to be feudin’ about, and as the Smokies change colors, these two families are only seeing black and blue as they fight over which family is going to win the fall costume party at the Sevier County Fall Festival. They do join together for an entertainment segment that is sure to be a thriller with a Monster Mash musical medley underneath a huge harvest moon, thick fog and giant tree branches that make the whole holler a little bit spooky (even spookier than Ma McCoy without her makeup!)
The talents and antics of these two families keep guests entertained throughout a two-hour adventure that includes competitions and stunts on the “mountainside” and in the 24-foot-deep swimming hole that is part of the show set. The Hatfields and McCoys’ harvest hijinks also include dueling banjoes, clogging and even bringing in Lil Hickory the pig to decide which crazy comedic clan is the best fall family in the Smokies.
One thing the arrival of fall won’t change is the all-you-can-eat meal that puts the delicious dinner in this dinner show with seasonal menu specialties aimed to please any palate. Not even the Hatfields and McCoys can disagree that the only way to start a meal is with Southern-style creamy soup and hot bread. Next, country classics like fried chicken, open pit pulled pork barbeque, mashed potatoes, buttery corn on the cob and coleslaw are served. A choice of specialty dessert, including pumpkin pie pudding for a limited time this fall, and tea or coffee complete the meal.
