Already under construction on Florida’s east coast, The Point is set to make waves in 2026. On track to become the Citrus State’s very first surf park and the first Endless Surf lagoon in the United States, this groundbreaking project is highly anticipated among Floridian surfers across the entire state.
Located on a 10.5-acre site in Fellsmere, Indian River County—adjacent to the world-renowned Sebastian Inlet— The Point Surf Park will become a central hub for Florida’s thriving surf community. Its prime location between the Treasure Coast and Space Coast—two regions deeply rooted in surf culture and drawing millions of visitors annually—positions it as a premier destination for both dedicated surfers and those new to the sport. Plus, with Florida often experiencing long ‘flat spells’ and inconsistent ocean swell, the state’s large surf population will now have access to world-class waves on demand, any time of year.
The Point will be anchored by Endless Surf’s ES36 technology, renowned for its powerful pneumatic hardware and innovative software suite. The ES36 will offer customizable and powerful waves suitable for surfers ranging from novice surfers all the way to professionals. The wave technology can generate waves up to overhead high and offer rides of up to 19 seconds in Single Peak configuration and up to 11 seconds in Split Peak. In addition, Endless Surf’s heart shaped design creates an authentic and dynamic beach environment that can accommodate various skill levels simultaneously while also offering high action views for spectators to enjoy along the beachfront and backwall.
The Point Surf Park is the brainchild of three passionate surfers and developers who set out to create a venue where Florida surfers can gather, train, and share waves year-round. Holding decades of experience in real estate, construction, and development, Luiz De Araujo, Asa Cascavilla, and Jack Cook form the ownership team behind The Point Surf Park. The trio is committed to building a surf haven that not only delivers high- performance surf and family-friendly experiences but also reflects their mission to honor God through their work. Construction on the Endless Surf lagoon is well underway with site grading and pile installation already complete and excavation kicking off in the coming weeks. PLAINVIEW, Texas — The National Roller Coaster Museum and Archives (NRCMA), the world’s largest collection of historic amusement ride vehicles and memorabilia, has successfully raised the funds to save and preserve four historic coaster cars from across North America, all thanks to ride enthusiasts from around the world.
The vehicles that fans helped the museum rescue from the scrapyard are:
- Kingda Ka: Retired from Six Flags Great Adventure as the tallest and second fastest roller coaster on Earth.
- Nighthawk: Retired from Carowinds as the world’s first flying roller coaster.
- La Vibora: Retired from Six Flags Over Texas as the last “Swiss Bob” in operation.
- Time Warp: One of a handful of “Volare” coasters to be installed around the world.
“The incredible outpouring of support from coaster enthusiasts around the world is both humbling and inspiring,” said Jeff Novotny, president of the NRCMA. “We very much look forward to rewarding their efforts by having them come out to see their contributions in action.”

LIGONIER, Pa. — Idlewild & SoakZone, the World’s Best Kids Park and Pennsylvania’s longest-operating amusement park, opens for its 148th Season on Saturday, May 17. Families can look forward to a summer packed with park-wide improvements, brand-new entertainment, extended fun in the Idlewild water park, SoakZone, and visits from one of the biggest attractions of the year, literally.
The season officially kicks off this Saturday at 11 a.m. with a special giveaway for the first 300 Season Passholders that make their way to the Passholder Perks center. New for 2025, park guests will notice several enhancements throughout Idlewild. Details include:
- Rollo Coaster Upgrades – the beloved 1938 wooden coaster, continues its multi-year upgrades with 3,500 pounds of new track lumber, 20,000 pounds of re-poured concrete footers, plus new ADA accessible ramps, decking and railing at the station;
- Story Book Forest – The heart of Idlewild continues its multi-year refresh with even more new pavement being added throughout the forest, making it even easier for families to make their way through their favorite fairytale stories;
- Wild Mouse Enhancements – the park’s thrilling steel coaster, is undergoing a full electrical system upgrade. This season, it will operate with an increased capacity for riders and will now run five Wild Mouse cars;
- Carousel Improvements – Idlewild keeps the nearly 100-year-old Carousel fresh with newly painted horses. This year, six horses have been fully updated and are ready for riders;
- Breakfast Bites & Sweet Delights – this all-new food stand located in the Hootin’ Holler themed area will serve breakfast sandwiches, mini waffles, funnel cakes for breakfast, then for dessert, the Old-Fashioned Dip Cone, made famous at Idlewild’s sister park, Kennywood, will be offered daily; and
- New Drink Refill Station – the Mineshaft Kitchen will be upgraded with a new fast fill soda machine offering families a quick refill between rides and slides.
In addition to all that is new at Idlewild for the 2025 season, the park has also added new events and entertainment and extended the SoakZone season. Details include:
- SoakZone Water Park – This year, families can enjoy the water park from Saturday, May 24 through Sunday, September 7, extending the water park season beyond Labor Day for the first time ever, plus extended hours on select summer Saturdays;

- Neighbor Days (Weekends, July 11 – August 3): in partnership with Fred Rogers Productions, Neighbor Days is a celebration of Western Pennsylvania’s own Fred Rogers. Families will have the opportunity to meet characters from beloved PBS KIDS series Donkey Hodie, Alma’s Way and Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, while also honoring the timeless charm of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.
- Kids Fest (Weekends, August 9 – 31): A month-long celebration of kid-focused fun and activities, including special character meets and the return of the always popular ‘Wild Foam Parties.
- HALLOWBOO! (Weekends, September 13 – October 26): The park’s signature not-too-spooky Halloween event returns with a Trick or Treat trail through Story Book Forest, rethemed rides and attractions, fun mazes and more.

Gilroy Gardens salutes Military and First Responder Heroes on Memorial Day Weekend

GILROY, Calif. — Gilroy Gardens Family Theme Park plans to honor active-duty military, veterans, first responders, and their families during a three-day “Salute to Heroes” celebration on Memorial Day Weekend (May 24-26, 2025).
Active-duty military, veterans, and first responders get free admission to the park all weekend long and can also purchase 50% general admission tickets for up to six guests. A valid ID is required at the front gate to claim these special offers.

Visitors are also encouraged to bring in an 8-ounce or larger sunscreen to donate to deployed military—and receive $25 off general admission (for up to six guests). The sunscreen will be included in military care packages in partnership with Operation Gratitude.

High-Speed History: RPM Raceway Long Island sets Guinness World Records title for the world’s longest indoor multi-level go-kart track

Spanning more than 3,515.7 feet across a two-story layout, the record-breaking MegaTrack debuted today with a special event featuring NASCAR Cup Series driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr., who completed the first official lap on the newly launched track.

Adventureland Resort kicks off season on May 17 with new thrills, new food & eventful lineup

ALTOONA, Iowa — The countdown is on, Adventureland Resort will open its gates for its 51st season at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, and it’s shaping up to be one unforgettable summer. This year, visitors can expect even more improvements coming to the park as Adventureland unveils the all-new water slide experience, Hyperlight, adds three new food locations and adds new events for park-goers to enjoy throughout the season. A Dynamic New Visitor Experience at Niagara Parks with Views like Never Before
Visitors to Niagara Takes Flight will experience the exhilarating sights of Niagara from a perspective they simply could not enjoy any other way. The completed theatre will feature a massive 17-metre-wide domed screen and gondola-style seating, which suspends riders in the air, providing an unbelievable sensation that will make guests feel like they are flying through the air. Wind, mist and scent effects complement the dynamic motion of the ride to create a fully immersive experience.

Beyond the remarkable sights they will take in, guests will leave with a deeper appreciation and understanding of Niagara’s rich history and culture through engaging pre-show areas that authentically celebrate the stories of Niagara’s formation, the region’s first Indigenous inhabitants and its role in popular culture as a global tourism icon.
About the Project
In 2023, Niagara Parks completed a competitive procurement process, awarding development of the attraction to Brogent Technologies, the worldwide leader in flying theatre attractions, with recent projects in Vancouver, Chicago, New York and Las Vegas. Attraction industry legend and former Disney Imagineer Rick Rothschild, who was a principal creator of the very first flying theatre attraction, Disney’s Soarin’ Over California, is serving as creative director on the project.
Conceptual design and media production planning began in January 2024, with construction starting that September. Filming for Niagara Takes Flight took place between September 2024 and January 2025, at sites across the Niagara River corridor. Drones were used to capture never-before-seen perspectives of landmarks including the Niagara Parks Power Station, Niagara Whirlpool, Landscape of Nations Memorial, Old Fort Erie and, of course, the Horseshoe Falls. Hundreds of extras participated in the production, bringing the sites to life with authenticity and spirit.
The attraction’s design and thematic elements have been supported by Canadian experiential design firm FORREC. The Toronto-based firm has established itself as an industry leader, working with top theme parks and attractions around the world, including recent conceptual design work on the award-winning redevelopment of the Niagara Parks Power Station. The rich thematic environments designed by FORREC for the immersive pre-show areas will be produced by Great Lakes Scenic Studios, a renowned, Burlington-based design and fabrication shop with a global portfolio. Under the attraction’s general contractor, Merit Contractors Niagara, numerous Ontario-based companies and contractors have been involved with the on-site construction.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), more than 61 million – or one in four – Americans live with disabilities, many of whom face daily obstacles in public facilities. Legislation is growing for universal changing stations, with the International Building Code (E142-21) now requiring them in a number of public facilities in the United States in its 2024 update.
