Sahara Sam’s Oasis Indoor Water Park has been awarded the prestigious Silver International Aquatic Safety Award by Jeff Ellis & Associates, Inc., International Aquatic Safety & Risk Management Consultants based in Ococee, Florida.

“Please extend our profound congratulations to every member of your aquatic safety staff for their commitment to professional excellence and desire to make a difference for those who frequent your aquatic facilities,” wrote Richard A. Carroll, Senior VP/COO of Ellis & Associates in his announcement letter.

Ellis & Associates tests each of its Comprehensive Aquatic Risk Management Program members with unannounced safety audits four times per year. Ellis auditors test the facility’s emergency action plans with real-life emergency scenarios. They also test each of the lifeguards on staff for their rescue proficiency and safety knowledge. Only those organizations scoring in the top 30% of the audit criteria receive this award.

Guests of Sahara Sam’s are consistently being afforded with the highest degree of swimmer protection currently available for the aquatic industry. Sahara Sam’s, like 80% of the country’s water parks, are clients of Ellis & Associates. All of the lifeguards at Sahara Sam’s have taken and successfully completed Ellis’ National Pool & Waterpark Lifeguard Training course. Sahara Sam’s also trains and fully-certifies its lifeguards in first aid and CPR through an extensive classroom course and practical real-water scenarios.

“Our lifeguard staff is one of the finest in the country,” said Jim Nolan, Operations Director for Sahara Sam’s and I.L.T.P. (International Pool & Waterpark Lifeguard Training Program) Instructor. “Safety is our number one priority at Sahara Sam’s. My staff and I are greatly honored by this award. Indeed, the best award that exists is the one given by one’s own colleagues, those who how your work.”

Previous winners include Highlands Ranch Community Association (2011), Prince William County Park Authority’s Aquatics (2010), Centennial Beach (2009), and Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department (2008).

Sahara Sam’s Oasis opened its doors in March 2009 as New Jersey’s first free-standing indoor water park with 58,000 square feet of indoor aquatic attractions. Sahara Sam’s attractions include Mount Kilimanjaro family raft ride, Snake Eyes tube slides, Congo Bongo Adventure River, Tim-Buk-Tu water tree fort, Lizard Lagoon for toddlers, Sam’s Slamdunker, Crocodile Flats cargo obstacle course and FLOWRIDER—the area’s only indoor surfing simulator! The newest attraction is Samazon Ropes Adventure, The World’s Tallest Ropes Course. Sahara Sam’s also features a one-of-a-kind retractable roof, full-service café and a 3,000 square foot family arcade. Sahara Sam’s is the perfect place for your next family outing, birthday party, group trip and special event. Sahara Sam’s newest initiative is the SAMBULANCE Educational Safety Program, a complimentary educational program for schools, camps, and community groups.
