Six Flags America adding B&M stand-up coaster in 2012

By | September 2, 2011

Mayhem comes to Maryland next season in the form of a B&M stand-up roller coaster. Sporting the ominous name of Apocalypse, the coaster will be located in the Skull Island area of the park. The ride will be the park’s eighth coaster. Upon entering the attraction, guests will wind through a queue, stepping further and further into an end of the world scenario. They’ll stand four abreast together, while making the 100-foot ascent to the ride’s apex. For two minutes, they’ll hurtle along the 2,900-foot-long course at speeds of 55 miles-per-hour and endure numerous twists, turns and two inversions (a vertical loop and corkscrew).

Apocalypse began its life as Iron Wolf at Six Flags Great America where it has operated since 1990.
The Apocalypse is planned to begin at Six Flags America on Friday, May 25, 2012 with a grand opening observance in the morning as the park opens and a thrilling display of fire in the sky that evening.
