RMA creates volcanic themed environment for Magma thrill ride at Paultons Park

RMA Ltd, the one-stop creative design and build specialists for visitor attractions, has created a volcanic theme for the new thrill ride at Paultons Park, The New Forest, United Kingdom. The theme park unveiled its new drop tower ride on March 31st with the themed environment designed and built by RMA.

Magma is a drop and twist tower ride from Italian ride manufacturers SBF Visa. RMA was called in to create an exciting themed environment for the ride. The result is a Jurassic volcano. The queue for the ride takes visitors right into the heart of the volcano, on the way encountering a prehistoric surprise in the form of an animatronic dinosaur and bubbling lava pools. The ride itself has also been given special effects including smoke, light and sound effects as visitors ride the erupting Magma 25 meters into the sky before falling back down to earth into the heart of the volcano.

RMA has worked with Paultons before to create the hugely successful Peppa Pig World. RMA Ltd’s managing director Nigel Knight says, “We were delighted to be asked to provide the theming around Paultons’ newest ride. Working with Paultons on Peppa Pig World was a great experience and Magma has given us the opportunity to create another world class attraction with them.”

Paultons built up the anticipation around the launch of Magma with an innovative social media campaign over the winter months, including video footage of staff investigating unusual rises in ground temperature and seismic activity around the theme park.

Paultons’ commercial director Stephen Lorton says: “Having opened Peppa Pig World to much excitement last year we were delighted with the response we received from our guests who visited — the attention to detail RMA designed and built in to the attraction is incredible, it really is like stepping in to Peppa’s World. Now complete, Magma looks incredible and the reaction we had from guests at our recent preview day was extremely positive.”
