Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park opens its new steel roller coaster, the Cliffhanger, today. The ride, a 60-foot-tall S&MC Hurricane, is situated on a precipice high above the valley floor below. Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park says the ride on Iron Mountain is located at an elevation of 7,160 feet and is the “highest-elevation, full-sized roller coaster in the United States.”
“It’s tricky to build a roller coaster on top of a mountain, so the process has taken a little longer than we’d hoped. I have given it a test ride, though, and it has definitely been worth the wait,” said park owner Steve Beckley.
Cliffhanger previously operated as Thunderbolt at Celebration City in Branson, Missouri.
