Hawaiian Falls Waco pours Wave Pool
By amusementtoday | February 14, 2012
More than 100 cement trucks rolled in and out of Hawaiian Falls Waco Monday, February 6, delivering more than 800 yards of concrete to create a wave pool the size of a football field. Located at 900 Lake Shore Drive, on the site of the former Waco City Water Park, Hawaiian Falls Waco will employ more than 150 seasonal workers and is expected to draw more than 70,000 tourists to the area each year. The park is projected to have a total annual attendance of 150,000 guests. Hawaiian Falls Waco will be three times larger than the previous city aquatic facility.
Hawaiian Falls Waco will be one of the largest and most elaborately themed and landscaped of the Hawaiian Falls waterparks, featuring two, six-story slide complexes with a six-lane racer slide, several tube slides, speed slides and a raft ride; plus the wavepool; an 800-foot lazy river winding through tall Elm trees; a floating obstacle course and an enhanced children’s area.
Hawaiian Falls Waco will offer private cabanas for daily rental, corporate picnic and group areas, birthday packages and several food and beverage options.
Coming off a record-breaking 2011 season, Hawaiian Falls plans $7.85 million in expansions at its Garland, The Colony, Roanoke and Mansfield, Texas waterparks. The growth has already created 10 new permanent positions and will generate more than 50 new seasonal jobs at its four North Texas waterparks. All of this growth is in addition to the new $10 million waterpark currently under construction in Waco. All improvements and additions will be completed by Memorial Day 2012.
Hawaiian Falls’ regular operating schedule is daily 10:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Waco residents receive a special discount on season passes. Individual Early Bird season passes are on sale now for $75 each, or four or more at $65 each. There’s also an Early Bird Flex Pay plan with four easy payments as low as $16.25 each. Hawaiian Falls season passes are good for admission to all four North Texas waterparks plus the new park opening Memorial Day weekend in Waco. More info at hfalls.com
