ORLANDO — World Waterpark Association (WWA) planners of the 45th Annual Symposium and Trade Show are excited to bring together water park owners, operators, developers, designers and suppliers to the “Most Magical Place on Earth.” The annual event is set for Oct. 20 to 23, at the Walt Disney World Resort, Orlando, Florida.
“We’re thrilled to bring our 45th Annual WWA Show back to Walt Disney World Resort this October,” said WWA President Rick Root. “The buzz has been building, and with registration trending ahead of last year’s show in Las Vegas, we’re anticipating a strong show.”
Root said Disney’s world-class guest amenities help make the WWA Show experience even better for attendees, from complimentary transportation and discounted park tickets to exclusive extra park hours. This year, WWA Show attendees staying at a Disney Resort will also enjoy free admission to Typhoon Lagoon on their check-in day.
On the trade show floor, attendees will find more than 400 booths showcasing thousands of products essential to daily water park operations. Designers and ride manufacturers will debut the latest ride and attraction innovations, making this a must-attend event for operators eager to see the newest products firsthand.
“The water park industry continues to expand worldwide, driven by constant innovation in design, theming and guest amenities,” Root said. “Our sold-out exhibit hall is another great reason to be here; you get to see the future of the industry in person. More than just showcasing products, WWA exhibitors are committed to helping operators tackle their toughest challenges with practical, actionable solutions.”
The WWA Show remains the largest water leisure education and training event in the world. With more than 100 new and returning speakers, the 2025 program offers sessions on everything from protecting your brand online and maximizing group sales to leveraging tech on a budget and bringing new life to existing facilities.
Attendees will also find certification programs for AFO, CPO, Ellis & Associates and StarGuard Elite, as well as all-day workshops.
“We’re fortunate that so many of our industry’s top professionals are eager to share their best practices,” said Root. “This year’s program features leaders from ADG, American Resort Management, Ellis Brands, Gaylord Opryland Resort, Island Waterpark, Kalahari Resorts & Conventions, Landmark Aquatic, Lucky Strike Entertainment, P2:3, Premiere Parks, Pro Parks, ProSlide Technology, PYEK Group, Safe Slide, Wild Rivers Waterpark, WTI, White Water, Wilderness Resort and, of course, Walt Disney World, just to name a few.”
As an Education Committee member, D’Anna Johnson from Wilderness Resort recently shared in World Waterpark Magazine: “From learning how to build a culture that retains seasonal staff, to gaining insights on the latest aquatic risk management techniques, these sessions are more than lectures - they’re interactive forums for growth. Whether you’re a GM, Aquatic Manager, or part of a safety or HR team, the knowledge shared in these rooms is often what elevates your operation from good to great.”
Although the official agenda to the symposium begins Monday, Oct. 20, WWA coordinates industry multiple-day courses that begin on Saturday, Oct 18, with day one. Those are StarGuard Elite Lifeguard Instructor Development Course, Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) Certification Course, Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Certification Course, and Ellis and Associates Lifeguard Instructor Licensing Program. Ellis and Associates courses run for three consecutive days, while the others run for two consecutive days.
On Monday, Oct. 20, WWA University workshops are offered. Those being offered during this year’s symposium include Waterpark Design, Development and Expansion Workshop; Ready, Set, Go! A Guide to Getting Started Workshop; and Waterpark Maintenance School.
The WWA Annual Golf Tournament is also set for this day. It will be held at the Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge.

Root said like many sectors, the water park industry has faced challenges in 2025, including unpredictable weather and economic pressures. Still, the sector continues to find creative ways to grow. New parks and expansions worldwide highlight the industry’s adaptability and innovation, from G-force thrill slides to indoor waterpark environments and stunning freshwater lagoons.
“We continue to see water attractions being integrated into all kinds of resort and recreation environments,” Root said. “Public sector aquatic centers are renovating and expanding facilities to include waterslides, lazy rivers and splashpad attractions. New development in the water park resort space is flourishing with major expansions from Kalahari and the new Bavarian Blast Waterpark to stunning water park resort openings from Great Wolf Lodge and the new Okana resort.”
Water parks have infiltrated the cruise industry, with onboard slides and attractions and whole new parks being developed on islands designated exclusively for cruise passengers. Carnival, Disney and Norwegian have all added new water park attractions in 2025.
Major international projects this year include: Aqualantis Waterpark at Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort in Turkey, Sun World Ha’ Nam in Vietnam, and the highly anticipated expansion of Yas Waterworld in Abu Dhabi.
“We’re excited to share many of these developments with our members and celebrate our Leading Edge and WWA Board Award recipients during the General Session,” said Root. “Our industry is laser focused on providing guests with the safest, cleanest and most fun environments possible. That drive, and the joy our guests bring, will continue to push the water park industry into an exciting new era.”
