Adventureland’s Phantom Fall Fest opens this Saturday with an oversized new nightmare

ALTOONA, Iowa — Adventureland is taking screams to the extreme beginning this Saturday, Sept. 26, as Phantom Fall Fest creeps out of the shadows for its fifth season. This year, visitors will face an oversized nightmare as a reimagined haunt comes to life at Adventureland.

MALICE: Jabberwocky’s Revenge dares guests to step through the rabbit hole where classic childhood tales twist into something dark. Parkgoers will shrink in terror as they make their way into Alice’s bedroom, trapped among towering furniture that leaves them feeling helplessly small. Wonderland was just a dream, MALICE is a new waking nightmare. The newest haunted attraction is just one of five haunted houses and four scare zones found throughout the park after the phantom takes over each night at 6 p.m.

“Phantom Fall Fest is just days away, and we can’t wait to welcome guests back for a season filled with bigger scares, new experiences, and plenty of fall fun,” said Mike Lusky, general manager of Adventureland. “MALICE: Jabberwocky’s Revenge is a completely reimagined experience that will challenge guests to see Wonderland in a whole new way, and with five haunted houses, four scare zones, thrill rides and family activities throughout the day, there’s something for everyone to enjoy when Phantom Fall Fest kicks off this Saturday.”

The days are for play every Saturday and Sunday during Phantom Fall Fest. From 12 p.m. until 6 p.m. families can enjoy the park’s trick or treat trail that offers four stops along Main Street and plenty of candy, Bubble Dance Parties take over the Boulevard, and Pumpkin Painting at Oinks invites even the smallest of guests to pick and paint their very own pumpkin. For those looking for a little competition, scream contests, costume contests, and scary-oke will take place daily at Oinks.

This fall season, Adventureland will also introduce several more fall themed food and beverage offerings. Hungry guests can enjoy unique fall treats including cinnamon sugar churro bites, pumpkin cheesecake dip, maple bacon funnel cakes, pulled pork with pumpkin barbeque sauce, and more. For those looking to enjoy fall-themed beverages, Adventureland will feature apple cider, seasonal beers, wine blood bags, and more.

Several beloved rides and attractions will also be open and ready for riders. During the day, guests can hop on several family friendly rides including Flying Viking, Lighthouse, Rockin’ Rainbow, and more. During the day and all evening long the park’s most iconic thrill rides will be open and ready for riders including Monster, Dragon Slayer, Pheonix, and more.

Phantom Fall Fest will run select days from Sept. 26 through Oct. 31. The park will be open on select Fridays from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m., Saturdays from 12 p.m. until 10 p.m., and Sundays from 12 p.m. until 9 p.m. Guests looking to visit throughout Phantom Fall Fest and the 2027 season can save up to $60 on 2027 Season Passes now.
