24 Indoor launches Monkey Town in U.K. with three October openings

24 Indoor will open its first three UK venues under the Monkey Town brand during October 2026, marking the formal British launch of an indoor-play name that is already a household name among families in the Netherlands and Germany.

Although these will be the first UK centres to trade under the Monkey Town name, 24 Indoor already has an established presence in the UK family entertainment market. The group acquired Rascals in Preston in July 2025 and subsequently added Inflatabubble in Chester to its portfolio in March 2026. Both venues continue to trade under their existing names.

The rollout will begin with the opening of a new Monkey Town in Kirkby on Sunday 18 October. Monkey Town Liverpool will follow on Wednesday 21 October, with Monkey Town Romford opening on Sunday 25 October. All three centres will be trading in time for the October half-term period.

The expansion brings together three different routes to growth: a purpose-built development in Kirkby, the transformation of Liverpool’s established Yellow Sub indoor-play venue, and the conversion of the former Better Gym site on Romford Market Place. Together, the projects demonstrate 24 Indoor’s strategy of combining organic development, acquisitions and the repositioning of existing leisure properties.

Across the three sites, Monkey Town will combine large-scale physical play with interactive technology, dedicated areas for babies and toddlers, family cafƩ facilities and pre-bookable birthday parties. The customer proposition will include unlimited playtime and free admission for accompanying adults.

Monkey Town Kirkby will be the group’s first purpose-built Monkey Town venue in the UK. Located on Cherryfield Drive, directly opposite Kirkby Bus Station, the 16,000sqft centre will feature a multi-level jungle-themed play structure, Climbing Volcano, Pixel Floor, Laser Town, dedicated under-threes’ and over-threes’ areas, an interactive ball pool and an enclosed sports pitch with interactive target games.

Monkey Town Liverpool will reopen the former Yellow Sub venue on the city’s waterfront following extensive refurbishment. The new centre will retain the site’s much-loved submarine feature while adding a new multi-level play structure, Laser Town, Pixel Floor, trampolines, an interactive sports pitch, a dedicated under-threes’ area and an inclusive sensory room.

Liverpool will also introduce what 24 Indoor believes to be one of the UK’s first indoor-play cafĆ© concepts without a traditional servery. Guests will order food and drinks using quick serve kiosk with touchscreens before collecting them from a dedicated collection point, with the model designed to improve speed, convenience and queue management.

Monkey Town Romford will open in the former Better Gym site on Romford Market Place. Its centrepiece will be a multi-level adventure structure covering almost 480 square metres and rising to more than five metres, with a four-lane Astra slide, spiral slide, 45-degree drop slide, climbing walls, cargo nets, bridges and obstacle challenges. The venue will also include a Climbing Volcano, HyperGrid Pixel Floor, Laser Town, trampolines, interactive ball pool, sports pitch and large dedicated under-threes’ area.

Peter van Wijk, CEO of 24 Indoor, who is originally from Liverpool, said: ā€œOpening our first three Monkey Town venues in the UK within the space of one week is a significant moment for 24 Indoor and one that has particular personal meaning for me. I am originally from Liverpool, so seeing two of our first Monkey Town centres open in Liverpool makes this milestone especially important. Kirkby, Liverpool and Romford are very different projects, but together they demonstrate the flexibility of the Monkey Town model and our ability to develop new venues, transform established family attractions and repurpose existing leisure space. We are bringing a proven European brand to the UK while adapting the offer for British families. The combination of large-scale active play, interactive attractions, inclusive facilities, unlimited playtime and free adult admission gives us a strong and accessible proposition in each market. These openings are the beginning of our growth under the Monkey Town brand in the UK, and we continue to assess further acquisition and development opportunities in London and other major regional markets.ā€

Standard and Deluxe birthday party packages are already available to book online. Packages include two hours of indoor play, a reserved party table, food and unlimited drinks, with additional treats and surprises included in the Deluxe option. Regular customers will also be able to purchase a flexible 10-Play Session Card, which can be shared between family and friends.

The three openings build on 24 Indoor’s existing UK portfolio. Rascals in Preston was acquired in July 2025 and Inflatabubble in Chester joined the group in March 2026, giving 24 Indoor an operating base in the UK ahead of the launch of its flagship Monkey Town brand.
