MIDDLEBURY, Conn. — Wooden Warrior, the marquee roller coaster at Quassy Amusement & Waterpark here, continues to get high marks from coaster enthusiasts worldwide. ElloCoaster, an online magazine dedicated to roller coasters, theme parks, and “other thrilling diversions,” announced this week that Wooden Warrior was rated among the top 50 wood coasters on the planet.

Warrior placed 40 on the list, based on an ElloCoaster poll among theme park and roller coaster enthusiasts that enjoy attractions worldwide.

“It’s a very impressive list of rides, and to make it is certainly an honor,” Quassy President Eric Anderson said of the announcement.

Opening in 2011, Wooden Warrior has since drawn international acclaim as its relatively small footprint – 1,250 feet in length and 35 feet tall – packs a wallop.

“Quassy really thought outside the box on this one, in that the coaster is kid-sized, but [1] it’s a woodie [2] they got The Gravity Group to design it [3] it introduced a brand new kind of wood coaster train and [4] it kicks all kinds of butt,” ElloCoaster Editor Jim Winslett said in a published review.

The ride was the first in all of North America to feature the state-of-the-art Timberliner train from Gravitykraft, sister firm of the ride’s designer, The Gravity Group.
