Six Flags hosts coaster marathon for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta

By | May 3, 2012

Six Flags Over Georgia and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta are partnering up to challenge adrenaline-junkies everywhere to raise money during the first ever Children’s Coasterthon. This coaster marathon will take place on the Great American Scream Machine — the theme park’s classic wooden roller coaster on Friday, June 8.

The top 22 fundraisers will earn a seat to see who can endure 10 hours of continuous rides. Those that make it through the entire event will receive a free Season Pass to Six Flags Over Georgia. The top overall fundraiser will receive the fitting grand prize — a trip to Six Flags Great America, located just outside Chicago, to take on their newest coaster: X-Flight.

“Supporting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta has been a part of our culture here at Six Flags Over Georgia,” said Melinda Ashcraft, park president. “Hosting the Coasterthon to help raise funds is just a small way to give back to this incredible organization.”

Individuals interested in participating can sign up online by visiting coasterthon.kintera.org. Friends and family will be able to support participants by making online contributions to help them earn a seat for the Coasterthon.

The Children’s Coasterthon is a part of the Miracle Month campaign in June at Six Flags to help raise awareness and funds for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, a not-for-profit and one of the country’s top pediatric health care systems.
