Six Flags Great America hosts all day 4th of July festival

Gurnee, Ill. — Chicagoland residents looking for the best 4th of July festivities need look no further. Six Flags Great America is hosting, “4th Fest,” an all-day and night patriotic celebration.

This year’s “4th Fest” includes specialty grilled foods throughout the park, a funnel cake eating contest with cash prizes, live entertainment, a wrestling show featuring former WWE champion Rhino and of course all of the Park’s signature rides and attractions. End the night with a bang and check out Great America’s patriotic nighttime illuminated parade and firework extravaganza. Families can also save with Buy One, Get One Free tickets available online for the event.

“4th Fest is our summertime answer to Fright Fest,” said Hank Salemi, Six Flags Great America park president. “As many area communities have to cancel their fireworks and festivals, we are offering a full-blown 4th of July celebration at the park. With 14 roller coasters, a 20-acre water park, specialty grilled foods, live entertainment, illuminated nighttime parade and fireworks show, 4th Fest is an experience families can’t get anywhere else.”

4th Fest will take place Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at Six Flags Great America, 1 Six Flags Parkway in Gurnee. Park hours 10 a.m.– 10 p.m. Fireworks begin at 9:45 p.m.
