Lake Compounce gives away the keys

By | April 12, 2012

As the country’s oldest amusement park turns 167 years young, they are preparing once again to celebrate by awarding the keys to the park to one lucky family. In addition, the family will receive $200 to spend in any of the park’s retail shops, and a one-hour family photo shoot by Elizabeth Frias Photography to capture their special time, so they will always remember their once in a lifetime experience.

The winning family will be invited to attend a special ceremony in their honor on opening day, Saturday, May 12th, where family and friends are also invited. They will then return on a determined date to enjoy their exclusive experience.

This year, Lake Compounce is asking for nominations of extraordinary families who have gone above and beyond in their communities, or of those who have experienced hardship and would enjoy special treatment by the staff at Lake Compounce Theme Park for an evening.

“It’s really heart-warming to hear stories of how parents are working together with their kids on charity projects, community events, and just helping out in general,” say Lake Compounce general manager Jerry Brick. “We want to treat one special family to an evening they won’t ever forget.”

Two runner up families will also be chosen, and will be asked to attend the opening day ceremony, followed by a free day in the park.

“Winning the keys to Lake Compounce was such an amazing experience for our family, and our kids still talk about it a year later,” said Heather Plotkin, of last year’s winning family. Heather says that her 7-year old son Tyler has had over 25 surgeries, and that they have had very little time for family fun.

Heather continues, “The staff went above and beyond making sure we had everything we could possibly want, from access to any rides as many times as we wanted, to snacks and meals, and even a special dance party. It was a night we will remember always.”

Entry forms, additional information, and rules and restrictions can be found by visiting the Lake Compounce website. All entries must be submitted no later than April 27. Winners will be notified in early May, and announced on Facebook and via the Lake Lovers e-newsletter.
