The Bowling Proprietors’ Association of America (BPAA), the bowling industry’s leading trade association, announced today that former Apple senior executive and digital music guru, Jeff Martin, will serve as the “Thought Leader” keynote speaker at the 2012 Bowling Summit in Napa, California on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. local time. Martin, the former head of Apple’s Global Entertainment and Multimedia division, worked directly with icon Steve Jobs and was instrumental in the incredible period of growth and innovation that propelled the company to unprecedented heights, while reshaping American culture.

Currently, Martin serves as founder and CEO of Tribal Brands, the first company to successfully drive over $2 billion in mobile-based revenue for the entertainment industry by working directly with mobile carriers throughout the world. Under Martin’s leadership, Tribal Brands has worked with such top companies as Verizon, Samsung, Harley Davidson, The World Bank, and Chrysler-Fiat, among others. Martin is also founder and CEO of Tribal Technologies (www.tribaltech.com), which created the first intelligent database behind mobile applications that predicts consumer behaviors and interactions, and drives unique mCommerce channels, as well as incentive programs.

In addition to his roles at Tribal Brands and Tribal Technologies, Martin is founder of mPowering (www.mpowering.org), a nonprofit organization focused on transforming the way philanthropic causes collaborate to fight global poverty via the use of mobile technology. He is also a co-investor and serves on the board of directors of Plex, a leading Internet TV solution that is an open platform for media management and consumption, and strategic advisor and co-investor in VideoSurf, the world’s first true video search solution. Martin also taught at Carnegie Mellon University’s Graduate School of Industrial Administration (GATF) as well as at Haas’ Executive Education Program at the University of California, Berkeley.

“Jeff Martin is a marketing and technology guru who has helped forever change both our personal and professional lives. He has stood at the forefront of the digital revolution and helped steer the development of a series of paradigm-shifting programs that have changed the way companies operate and how people communicate with each other. There is no one better than Jeff to speak to the industry about how we can utilize the growing trend of mobile technology to take our businesses to the next level,” said Steve Johnson, executive director of the BPAA.

Martin’s “Thought Leader” keynote session, “A Marriage of Convergence: Bowling & Mobile Technology,” is part of the newly revamped education series and conference schedule at the annual Bowling Summit. The new Summit format aims to reduce and most efficiently utilize the time required for proprietors to be away from their centers. Martin’s session will assist proprietors to better understand the convergence between the bowling industry and mobile technology.

BPAA’s Bowling Summit is the premier annual strategic midwinter conference for bowling center proprietors, managers and industry leaders, offering education, networking and industry insights on new and upcoming products. The 2012 Bowling Summit will be held from January 22 to 24 at the Meritage Resort in Napa, California.
